If you love sweet desserts that are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, you will fall in love with churros at the first bite. These Spanish donuts, known from the show Pečie all over Slovakia, are perfect for an afternoon coffee or a weekend treat with the family. With just a few basic ingredients, a bit of patience, you will have delicious sticks on the table sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon - just like in Spain.

Instructions

1
Dough

Pour water into a pot, add butter and a pinch of salt. When it starts to boil, add flour and mix until the dough comes off the sides of the pot. Then let it cool slightly and mix in the eggs one by one.

2
Shaping

Fill the dough into a pastry bag with a wide star tip. Squeeze longer sticks onto parchment paper or directly into hot oil.

3
Frying

Fry in hot oil (about 170°C) until golden brown - about 2-3 minutes on each side. Place the finished churros on paper to drain excess oil.

4
Finishing

Coat the still warm churros in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Serve with warm chocolate sauce or Nutella.

5
TIP

For a perfect chocolate sauce, mix 100g of chocolate with 50ml of cream and a small spoonful of honey. You can also add a pinch of chili - it will create a contrast like in authentic Spanish cuisine.
