Sift the flour through a sieve into a bowl. Make a well in the center, pour in a little warm - not hot - milk and gently mix in the crumbled yeast and 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar with a fork. Let the yeast activate.
When it has risen, add an egg to the edge of the flour - not directly into the yeast, a pinch of salt, about 100ml of warm milk, and approximately 50g of melted butter or margarine. Start kneading the dough by hand, gradually incorporating all the ingredients. If the dough is too dense, add a little more warmed milk. Knead for at least 10 minutes until the dough is well mixed. Dust the well-worked dough with flour, cover it, and let it rise.
Turn out the risen dough onto a floured surface, gently fold it a few times by flipping it from top to bottom, left to right. It's good to let it rest covered for a few more minutes on the surface. Then gently roll it out, cut out circles with a glass, place jam on them, and make buns. Put them on a greased baking sheet and make sure to grease the sides of each bun well so they separate nicely after baking.
