Sauté the chopped onion in butter.

Add sliced mushrooms and stew.

Add chopped potatoes, salt, pepper, marjoram, garlic, and bay leaf. Pour in water.

Let it cook until tender, then mix light roux from flour and milk and pour into the soup.
